As with many of us, sequestration has had a severe impact on all Defender Offices and the Defender Services budget. This includes an approximate 50% or more reduction in training budgets for the 2013 fiscal year, which ends on September 30th. Defender Services have cancelled the following programs as a result: Sentencing Advocacy Workshop; Law and Technology Series: Electronic Courtroom Presentation Workshop; Law and Technology Series: Techniques in Electronic Case Management Workshop; Paralegal and Investigator Skills Workshop; Seminar for Federal Defender Paralegals and Investigators; and the National Seminar for Federal Defenders.
